Ubuntu Create NTFS File System

Ubuntu operating system allows you to create NTFS file system, which is windows compatible file system.

Follow these procedure to create NTFS file system.

  • List the partitions details with sudo fdisk -l, and select a partition form the list (Eg. partition name: /dev/sda1)
  • Then format the selected partition with sudo mkfs.ntfs /dev/sda1 that will create NTFS partition. Here replace /dev/sda1 with the partition you selected.
