Check file exists or not linux

 

By using following conditional expression we find out if a file exists or not:

if [ -f fileName ]

then

echo "file exists."

else

echo "file not found."

fi

Following one liner also aechives same function

$ [ -f /etc/passwd ] && echo "File exists" || echo "File does not exists"
