Ubuntu/Dabian password authentication for recovery mode

By default in Ubuntu/Debian OS password authentication for root user is disabled.

Because of this reason when we logged in into recovery mode it wont asks password.

This feature has its own advantages and disadvantages.

To enable password authentication for recovery mode run following command, and try entering into recovery mode after reboot. It should ask password.

$ sudo passwd root

To disable password authentication for recovery mode run following command, and try entering into recovery mode after reboot. It shouldn’t ask password.

$ sudo passwd -l root
