Linux find length of string

 

To find length of a string use any of following one liner.

$ echo -n "abc" | wc -c

$ expr length "abc"

$ echo abc | awk '{ print length }

$ echo abc | perl -nle 'print length'

$ inputVar=abc; echo ${#inputVar}

For all of above commands output is 3.
