Nagios check specific URL with check_http

To check specific url with check_http use following command

$ /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_http -H <hostname> -f follow 
  -u <pageYouAreLookingFor>

Where hostname is host name of the website that you want to check.

Example:

To check url http://www.ubuntu.com/project/about-ubuntu use following command:

$ /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_http -H www.ubuntu.com -f follow 
  -u "/project/about-ubuntu"

Output:

HTTP OK: HTTP/1.0 200 OK – 12724 bytes in 0.503 second response time |time=0.503498s;;;0.000000 size=12724B;;;0

    • Use -S with check_http plugin.
      Example:
      /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_http -H yourHostName -S
      Output:
      HTTP OK: HTTP/1.1 200 OK – 21408 bytes in 0.359 second response time |time=0.358644s;;;0.000000 size=21408B;;;0
